Types of Tunes for 6.0L Engines

At PCD Tuning, we offer a range of specialized tunes to enhance the performance of your 6.0L engine:

SPD: The SPD is a 2.4ms race tune ideal for trucks with head studs. While designed for race-style performance, it's also suitable for daily driving. Although the SPD tune was never designed to be a tow tune, it can be used with very light towing (1500-2000 lbs) with trucks that have been head studs. The tune includes 4k RPM shifts at full throttle.

MPD: Slightly milder than the SPD, the MPD tune is a 2.4ms race tune with the same shifting and powerband characteristics. It offers less timing and less boost at full throttle, making it a higher-power option for non-studded trucks. However, it's not guaranteed to be "safe" if abused on a non-studded truck.

MPD 1.6ms: This variation of the MPD tune reduces fueling to 1.6ms from the regular 2.4ms, making it a more street-friendly option. It's suitable for trucks with larger-than-stock turbos, offering a balanced mix of power and drivability.

Tow: If you're looking for a mild tune, our Tow tune is the answer. It maintains a stock injector pulse width table but ramps up ICP a little faster. It features close-to-stock shift points with added pressure and improved lockup. This tune is recommended for towing with stock injectors and a stock turbo.

Options for 6.0L Tunes

Our 6.0L tuning options are designed to enhance your vehicle's performance, offering flexibility to suit various driving needs. Here's a brief overview of these options:

Modded Shifts: This feature raises part-throttle shift points to higher RPMs and speeds. It's especially beneficial for trucks with larger turbos and injector setups, helping maintain RPMs within the higher power band of these modifications. 

No TH (Tow Haul): With this option, overdrive is disabled when in tow haul mode. It's a handy feature for those moments in the "dead zone" around 50mph, allowing drivers to accelerate without aggressive throttle input and excessive smoke. Most MPD 1.6ms, MPD, or SPD tunes include this feature unless specified otherwise.

Locked: This feature enables early converter lockup, typically at the top of 2nd gear or in the early part of 3rd gear. It's ideal for racing and maximum performance but may feel a bit quirky in stop-and-go traffic or while towing. Daily driving with this option may not provide the desired comfort.

Open Vane: Open vane idle creates a distinctive rumble sound, adding a unique audio element to your driving experience.

No CEL (Check Engine Light): This option is suitable for trucks with larger non-VGT turbos or extensive modifications. It prevents the check engine light from illuminating while allowing DTCs to be scanned and cleared with a tool.

2nd Gear Start TH: Specifically designed for drag racing enthusiasts, this option initiates a 2nd gear start when in tow haul mode, while normal drive mode retains regular first gear starts. This feature is exclusively recommended for drag racing and should not be used for street driving.

Please Note: While some use FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) tuning, we typically don't recommend it to be run with our tunes. FICM tunes can increase injector pulse width, affecting performance. It's crucial to be cautious when considering FICM tuning, as it can significantly alter your vehicle's performance characteristics.
